Functions of food content:
Copper - It is present in several proteins. It is required for the synthesis of haemoglobin, for normal bone formation, for maintaining the normal functioning of the nervous system.
Magnesium - Activates energy supplying enzymes

Sodium - It is a major component of extra cellular fluid. It is present in bones & soft tissues. It maintains the acid-base balance of our body. It protects the body from excessive loss of body fluids. It controls the normal working of muscles & permeability of cells.

Potassium - About 4 gms of potassium is present in the normal diet. Together with sodium it influences neuro-muscular activity of the skeletal as well as cardiac muscles.it maintains the acid-base balance of our body. Excretion of potassium is mainly through urine.
