SOYABEAN
Health Benifits: -
Soyabean has become today the ‘gold nugget of Nutrition’ because
of combination of nutrient it provides (Saibaba 1997). Soyabean
may hold many advantages over animal products above & beyond the
fact that soyabean are low in SFA, of course cholesterol free
of utmost importance is the hypocholesterolemic effect soya protein
(Messina 1995)
When one considers many nutritional attributes of soya food form
the very basic (high biological value protein, lactose free &
cholesterol free , good source of omega fatty acids) to the most
exerting (the prevention treatment of heart disease & cancer).
It is clear that the nutrition community should welcome the incorporation
of soyafood in to the diet.
Fortunately the multitude of food products made from soyabean,
focus the traditional ones such as tofu & soymilk, to the more
modern ones. Such a hotdogs and burgers makes the increasing consumption
on achievable goals.
Soyafibre & diabetes: - Adopting a high fibre, high CHO diet generally
improves control of diabetes. Supplementation of soyafibre significantly
enhanced return of serum glucose levels towards fasting levels
during the latter half of the test meal though soy fibre had no
effect on plasma insulin levels.

Soybean in acute diarrhoea and secondary lactose in tolerance:
Lactose intolerance means that your body cannot digest or absorb
the milk sugar lactose. Milk, other dairy products, and foods
to which milk has been added contain lactose. Because of role
lactose free soy-protein based formula in the management of long-term
lactose restriction, a number of studies have addressed the role
of these formula’s in the recovery of acute infantile diarrhoea.
Thus soyabean is the best substitute to relieve the person from
complain of indigestion after drinking milk.(American academy
of paediatrics- jan-1998, committee on nutrition).
Cholesterol lowering effect of soy-protein:
There is much evidence from studies on experimental animal and
human subjects that substitute soy-protein for animal in the diet
reduces the concentration of total and LDL cholesterol in the
plasma or serum. The suggested mechanism for lowering cholesterol
by soy-protein is as follows:
1.They may improve the catabolism of cholesterol rich in LDL fraction.
2.Absorption of lipids from GI tract may be slow with soy-protein.
3.It increases biliary cholesterol excretion.
4.It may increase fecal steroid excretion. Soy-protein and food
allergies:

Soy-protein has proved an excellent food source for people suffering
from allergies. They clear up rashes, pimples, eczema, and other
skin troubles. The reason that soy-protein is recommended for
use in case of eczema and other skin rashes is that they render
unnecessary use of animal protein such as meat, eggs and milk
and lessen the inflammatory activities of the skin.
Soya milk is of great value to person who allergic to cow’s milk.
Soymilk and soyaflour promoted growth, improved appetite, and
improved mental alertness.
Soyabean contains antioxidants, which have anti-ageing benefits.
The ageing process has been defined as the inevitable decrease
in the amounts of healthy tissue in the organ of the body , resulting
in a loss of the organ . Soyabean contain adequate amount of vitamin-A,
which presents as antioxidants.
Thus soyabean plays a beneficial role in all the condition .the
overall positive nutritional profile, plentiful supply, excellent
functional property, puts soyabean into focus, as an attractive
under-utilised raw material for innovative development.
