Ginger Or Adrak Latin Name : Zingiber Officinale Hindi Name : Adarak, Soonth (Dried Ginger) Parts Used : Rhizomes raw as well as dried It is a slender perennial herb, with long linear leaves. Flowers grow in oblong, spikes and are ensheathed and are greenish yellow in colour. Fruits are oblong capsules. Rhizomes are white to yellowish brown, irregularly branched somewhat laterally flattened. A few scales cover the growing tips. The surface of the rhizome is smooth. Properties And Uses Raw ginger is thermogenic, anti flatulent, appetiser, digestive and laxative. It is used in anorexia, flatulence, indigestion, cold, cough and inflammations. Dried ginger is thermogenic, appetiser, laxative, expectorant, stimulant, cures stomach disorders.
